Short version: we do not sell them, we do not give them away, and the only people who see them are the volunteers who might reach out to you.
Your name, the contact you gave us, how you found us, and anything you chose to tell us in the form. That is all. We do not ask for an address, a birthday, or a payment method, and we never will.
Toby, who runs this, and our buddy volunteers — people we know and vet personally. They can see your name and contact details, so that one of them can reach out and say hello. That is the whole reason we asked.
If you said you did not want a buddy, nobody is assigned to you and nobody will be. You are just on the list for event news.
We sell your details to nobody, and no studio or teacher will contact you out of the blue. We sell nothing. We take no cut. We are not a school and we are not anybody's booking agent. There is nothing for us to gain by passing your number on, so we do not.
One exception, and we will always tell you at the time. Some of our events are sponsored by a studio. If you sign up at one of those, your details go to that studio as well as to us. When that applies, it is written on the sign-up form itself, next to the tick box, with the studio named. If the form says nothing about a sponsor, there is no sponsor and nobody else gets your details.
We are a small group and we are hoping you are interested in starting. Someone will reach out. Some of that is automated, but we do not mass-message — you are not on a mailing list being blasted at, and a real person is behind it.
You do not have to join the Boston Tango Newbies group, and nothing changes if you skip it. If you do join, remember it is a normal WhatsApp group: everyone else in it can see your phone number. That is how WhatsApp works rather than anything we control, and it is worth knowing before you tap join. You can leave at any time.
No advertising, no third-party trackers, no analytics following you around. We are not building a profile of you.
Ask, and we will delete you. Tell your buddy, or reply to whoever contacted you, and say you would like your details removed. You do not have to give a reason, and nobody will try to talk you out of it.
